Hurford Parker was founded in the 1990s with the vision of providing expert, personalised insurance to New Zealand families and businesses. Founders, Jeff Parker and the late Jim Hurford, wanted to provide an alternative to foreign-owned insurance broking companies and deliver an outstanding service that was built on relationships and expertise. Today, Hurford Parker has grown into a leading insurance broking company with a dedicated team servicing clients across Hawke’s Bay and around the country.
Hurford Parker was a foundation member of Brokernet New Zealand Ltd and NZbrokers Management Limited: a group of independent New Zealand brokers formed to deliver additional client benefits for exclusive use by member brokers. Located throughout the country, members provide local service with national strength, backed by the buying power of a collaborative group. Managing Director and Insurance Broker William Parker has worked for three of the largest global insurance brokers in New Zealand, Australia and London, and worked in a range of sectors on both commercial and corporate business. Passionate about building relationships with clients, William understands that a cookie cutter approach to insurance coverage doesn’t cut it. He believes cover must be tailored and consider the varying degrees of risk associated with businesses to ensure the most cost effective programme is designed to meet your insurance requirements.

Director Jeff Parker founded Hurford Parker along with the late Jim Hurford in 1994. Jeff provides more than 40 years of experience and knowledge of the New Zealand and global insurance market, and his ability to negotiate on behalf of Hurford Parker clients is well known. Proudly founded with the vision of providing a viable alternative to international companies where there’s a face to face transaction and all profits remain in New Zealand, Jeff is determined for Hurford Parker to continue to offer its clients, business partners and staff an insurance broking company that is innovative and leading. He is a Fellow of the Insurance Brokers’ Association of New Zealand Inc.

Commercial Insurance Group Manager, Dean Sewell has more than 30 years of experience in general insurance supported by a number of industry specific qualifications. Dean is an experienced claims manager, insurance underwriter and insurance broker, and has held several senior management positions including New Zealand Property Underwriting Manager, Manager General Corporate and Wellington Branch Manager/Southern Region Property Underwriting Manager. To ensure correct product response and the most advantageous result for all clients, Dean applies his previous experience in a risk management based approach to programmes of insurance.
